Lightning bolt is a combat spell. During the special attacks phase of the combat round, the magician sends a lightning bolt against the toughest defender in the front row of the opposing force. The lightning bolt acts as a 500 point attack against that defender.
This combat spell will only be used if the toughest defender in the front row has a defense of at least 80.
Note that nobles protected by troops are not defenders, and so will not be targeted by this spell until all their troops have been eliminated.
